How we frame an explanation
We distinguish an observation from an interpretation. We identify the scale of a measurement: room, enclosure, surface or object-adjacent air. We describe important limitations and make illustrative readings visibly different from recommendations.
Named standards and institutional resources provide starting points for further reading. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement, affiliation or a claim that every provision applies to every collection. Consult current editions, relevant specialists and your own institutional procedures.
What we do not provide
We do not sell monitoring equipment, rank products through affiliate links or operate a collection monitoring service. This site does not provide an individual condition assessment, a building control specification or emergency conservation support. A short article cannot account for an object's treatment history, construction and existing damage.
Images and diagrams
Studio-style object and sensor imagery supports explanation rather than documenting a tested installation. Diagrams are conceptual and not to scale. Do not copy an apparent mounting method, clearance or sensor position without checking its suitability for the collection.
Corrections and questions
Clear technical writing should remain open to correction. If you notice an ambiguity, name the page and passage, explain the concern and include a relevant source where possible. Please avoid sending confidential collection locations, security arrangements or personal information about other people.
